WOMEN CELL ACTIVITIES 

 1. Holiday Camp for Women:

          A  holiday camp was organised for women  from  Chetlat, Bitra  and Kiltan at Kiltan  from 27.08.2001 to  04.09.2001 as  part  of  the celebration of  Women  Empowerment  Week.   The programme  was organised in collaboration with IXORA  Association Kavaratti.   All  head of  institutions.   District  and Village   Dweep   Panchayat   members,   members   of   voluntary organisations and local leaders also participated.

 2. Self Help Group:-

      Seventy women have been registered under 7 Self Help Groups.  Activities  vary from group to group.  Two groups concentrate  on Stitching and Embroidery, two groups in pickling and three groups concentrate  on  snack making, pickling and  coconut  oil  making (traditional system).

       A two days training camp (26th to 28th August 2002) was organized  at  KVK  for  the  Self  Help  Groups  regarding   the functioning  of  Self Help Group as envisaged  by  NABARD.   Also paying visits to the group especially for the weekly meetings  on their request.
